My name is Caroline Bousigué
I am a French globetrotter based currently in the UK.
I discovered the fascinating world of gemstones when traveling in India many years back while still working in the French film industry. I met wonderful people willing to transmit their knowledge therefore I stayed in Jaipur a few months to learn more about the universe of stones, from sourcing to cutting and it became a passion.
I started producing unique handmade jewellery inspired by the natural beauty of semi-precious gemstones and freshwater pearls, enhanced by sterling silver elements. Each piece is one of a kind. Most are quite a statement.
In my more recent work, I have started using Vermeil Gold which I find enhances beautifully the stones I carefully pick.
I continue going to India to look for traditional hand cut material but I also source from many other countries : Ocean Jasper and Labradorite directly from Madagascar, Aquamarine and Tourmaline from Brazil, Moonstone from Sri Lanka, Opals from Ethiopia...
I get my inspiration from nature itself and most of time the stones have their way to show me how to combine them together.
I am a perpetual admirer of ancient pieces from Byzantine and Etruscan civilisations and ethnic jewellery which I collect for my own pleasure.
My work is quite particular, it is artisan made and I like to think I am creating a special bond with the ladies who choose to wear my creations.
I hope I am not wrong and I wish to keep it that way.
